In June 2024, I threw a pot.
Four pots in fact. Plus a lot of shapeless splats. I made this website to document the process.
Almost everything I do involves a computer, so I decided to try something practical and messy.
I like ceramics, but my enjoyment of them doesn't usually go beyond looking at them in museums and sometimes photographing them.
My partner also had a dream one night that I made a clay pot. Who am I to argue with Cassandra Samara?
So I decided to do it. After paying for materials and tuition, I was enrolled in a class at a WASPS studios in Glasgow.
Over four sessions Cath Pots taught us, eight stupid beginners, the basics of wheel throwing, trimming, glazing and firing.
The pots now live happily in our living room.
